I'm Back!

Hey everyone!

It’s Emil, and I’m back! It’s been a while since my last email (31st December 2023, to be exact 😅), but I’ve been working on some exciting things behind the scenes!

If these emails aren’t for you anymore, feel free to unsubscribe at the bottom - I’d rather not clutter your inbox 🙂

There’s one thing I want to share with you in this email - the power of consistency.

I know, it’s a bit ironic considering I’m coming back from a year long hiatus, but hear me out.

I’m now a final year medical student and I’m starting to see a lot of the things that I’ve worked on throughout medical school come to their natural conclusion.

Over the past two years, I’ve served as an academic representative on the Monash Medical Students committee. This involved collating resources for my peers and advocating for change.

Now, I’ve been elected Academic Vice-President, overseeing academics across the entire Monash Medicine degree. I’ve also been invited to join the School of Medicine Advisory Board.

On YouTube, I’ve been uploading (relatively) consistently over the last four years 🤯, and I’ve had the opportunity to attend events with companies like FIGS and Apple. I’ve also met some amazing creators who I’ve formed some amazing friendships with.

I really don’t say any of this to brag, but none of this would have been possible if I had quit when things got hard. There have been times where I took breaks, but I’m proud that I’ve been able to keep these commitments up.

Looking back, this has highlighted that most achievements worth bragging about come from sustained effort over years, not days, weeks or months.

As I head towards graduation, I’ve been thinking about how I can continue to work on my YouTube channel while working full time, which leads me onto my project!

I’ve been working on an online course designed to help medical students study more effectively, helping them lead better lives.

I’m in the process of putting up the systems needed to get this course running, but I’m very excited about setting it up. You may hear more about this in the coming months!

In the theme of consistency, I’m hoping that this venture will give me a sustainable route through which I can develop my channel as I start working full time. It makes sense to me that I will continue learning about productivity in medicine for as long as I can.

For you, I’m hoping that this email inspires you to consider what you can stay consistent with.

What would you feel proud about keeping up in 10 years time?

- Emil

Hi everyone, Happy New Year! I hope that this year has been kind to you, and that 2024 brings happiness and success to you all. For me, the end of the year has always been a time for introspection. I like to reflect on the progress I’ve made and plan ahead for the year to come. The holiday season usually has a nice mix of free time and sentimentality that allows for reflection to flow smoothly. That being said, it’s very easy for us to make well intentioned, actionable plans for the year to...

Hey everyone, I just finished my third year of medical school and I’ve realised that so many of my studying mistakes could have been prevented. Over the last three years I’ve discovered several strategies that would have saved me hours of time, effort and more importantly, my sanity. Today, I’ll try to share as many of these game-changers with you as possible. So, let’s discuss: The strategies that you can apply before class that will save you hours of time How you can consolidate learning...

Hi everyone! A couple of days ago I was sitting at my desk, starting at my calendar and seeing it completely full with commitments that had seemingly piled up out of nowhere. When I’m faced with situations like this, time spent studying is usually the first to disappear from my calendar. Inevitably, I want to compensate for this loss, and I find myself thinking that I need to “try a bit harder” to stay on track. I’m sure that every student has wondered what would happen if they spent more...
